Opinion:

Inflation

Holding inflation is one of the basic presuppositions for reactivating the economy. However, holding inflation for a long time in order to maintain the currency stability is like the Portuguese joke about  teaching the donkey not to eat (after learning it, the donkey dies). In reality (and in the Real Plan) what really exists is Supply and Demand of goods and services.

Text for Discussion:

What affects the Brazilian Exports?

From 1973 until now Brazilian exports have grown 60% relative to the GDP (quantum index). The ratio between these figures expressed in dollars and corrected by the American inflation has practically remained constant. That is we are exporting 60% of our GDP and receiving the same thing. Is it for this purpose that we are reducing the “Brazil cost”? Using other price indexes, the surprising constancy of this ratio has also been tested even  facing large variations in exchange rate and internal and external crisis.

Article:

Emission of greenhouse effect gases resulting from energy use and transformation in Brazil between 1970 and 2002 is evaluated. It is the updating of the Executive Summary presented to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT), including data from the Energy Balance of the Ministry of Mines and Energy and an updating of the emission coefficients carried out by the MCT’s staff responsible for the Climate Change.
